Celebrating the life of

Peggy P. Coe

December 04, 1924 - November 11, 2010

Peggy P. Coe

SAVANNAH -Peggy Edna Peer Coe, age 85, with all of her children by her side, passed gently away Thursday afternoon, November 11, 2010 at Hospice Savannah, following her husband's death just seven weeks prior. Born in Arlington, Virginia, Peggy attended Washington and Lee High School, then married and raised her family with her high school sweetheart, Casey, in Falls Church. She was a trailblazer of sorts as she balanced the traditional home and child rearing responsibilities of the '50's and '60's while holding down a full-time career in retail sales and management with Woodward and Lothrop and Garfinkle's Department stores. Her home state of Virginia was always near and dear to her heart even when retirement and staying close to children called for moves to Hendersonville, North Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. Peggy was a consummate artist who thoroughly enjoyed creating through sewing, ceramics, painting, and other kinds of crafts; her involvement with the Windsor Forest Golden Age Senior Center provided a wonderful outlet for this artistic soul, not to mention the many close friendships she made during those times. Peggy, an original animal whisperer, had a love and a way with both birds and dogs. She constantly read, observed and took much enjoyment watching and identifying the many birds she cared for in her back yard, always with a loving dog in her arms. Surviving are the loves of her life, her three devoted children, and their spouses: daughter and son-in-law, Peggy A. and David Cariseo; Ted and Lois Coe, and Ken Coe & Colleen Cassiday; favorite siblings, Marilyn Peer Coleman and Gerry A. Peer; faithful brother-in-law William T. "Bill" Coe, two adoring granddaughters, Amy Wilson Scott and Elizabeth Amen Peter, a seven-month old great-grandson Ryan Wilson, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on November 19, 2010 at 11:00 am at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church followed by a reception in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice Savannah, P. O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or Save-A-Life Animal Welfare Agency, 4 Raintree Lane, Savannah, GA 31411.
